New banknote proposal from CHP's Tanju Özcan: 'Put our President's picture on it'

The Turkish Lira, which has lost purchasing power in the face of high inflation as a result of the economic policies pursued by the AKP government, continues to lose value against foreign currencies.

CHP Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan stated that a new banknote should be issued due to the loss of value in the TL.

In his post, Mayor Özcan recalled that 131 dollars could be purchased in 2010, when the 200 TL banknote first entered circulation, and stated, "Now we need approximately 5,500 TL to buy 131 dollars. The government urgently needs to print banknotes of at least 5,500 TL to 'PROTECT THE TL' against 131 dollars. When printing this banknote, we should put a picture of the Presidential Complex on one side and a picture of our President on the other so that our children can understand this in the future."

Özcan also shared his prediction for the future with the words, "If this era continues like this, it will not be a dream to see 50,000 and 100,000 TL banknotes soon."
