New claims regarding military hospitals following Bahçeli's call! The draft discussed in the corridors has emerged

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for the reopening of military hospitals has reportedly prompted the government to begin preparations on the matter. According to the claims, the draft study being prepared plans for the reactivation of at least 15 military hospitals and for these hospitals to be managed by military personnel.

In his speech at his party's parliamentary group meeting last week, Bahçeli stated that Turkey is the only country within NATO that does not have military hospitals, saying, "Today, Turkey is the only country within NATO that does not have a military hospital. It is of vital importance that military hospitals be reopened and brought back into the structure of the army."

Following this statement, it was alleged that the AKP has initiated a study regarding the reopening of military hospitals.

According to the claims, the draft being prepared considers reopening at least 15 of the military hospitals that operated in the past, rather than all 25. The draft also envisions returning the management of the hospitals to military personnel, while stating that it could take approximately 10 years for the healthcare personnel capacity to reach its former level.

Nefes newspaper columnist Nuray Babacan also shared inside information regarding the draft study in her column.

Here is what Babacan reported:

"The draft study I wrote about last October is being finalized among the relevant ministries. It seems more logical and rational proposals have come to the agenda...

We had written that those who would receive services from military hospitals included all institutions serving in the security field, such as the TSK (Turkish Armed Forces), MIT (National Intelligence Organization), Gendarmerie, and the police. Now, the scope of this regulation is being expanded. They want to include civilians who effectively make decisions and sign off on counter-terrorism efforts against groups like FETÖ and the PKK. For example, governors, rectors, and undersecretaries.

It is stated that even if not all 25 military hospitals that existed in the past are reopened, at least 15 will be on the agenda, and that military hospitals will again be managed by the military. It is claimed that it will take at least 10 years for these hospitals to regain their former strength in terms of healthcare personnel.

The number of people who will receive services from military hospitals will reach 2.5 million with the new additions to the list. An expression such as 'everyone serving in all areas that the National Security Council considers state security' is being used.

Those participating in the study state that the military medical academy concept was implemented during the September 12 military coup period, and that in the period before that, military hospitals were under military management, while the training of military doctors and health personnel took place in civilian universities.

There is insistence that military doctors and health personnel be trained by being admitted to quotas each year by the University of Health Sciences in numbers determined by the Ministry of National Defense. Furthermore, it is planned that the hospitals will remain affiliated with the Ministry of Health, not the Ministry of National Defense.
