New court ruling in CHP convention case... Removal of Özel had been requested

A new development has occurred in the lawsuit filed by former CHP Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş, alleging that 'irregularities' were involved in the convention process. Savaş's application for the 'precautionary' suspension of the party leadership's powers was evaluated by the court and rejected.

Savaş had applied to the judiciary for the cancellation of the convention and, during this process, had requested the removal of the current party leadership from office. Upon review, the court did not find this request appropriate.

COURT RESPONDS NEGATIVELY TO APPLICATION

In the lawsuit filed by Lütfü Savaş for the cancellation of the 38th Ordinary CHP Convention, the request for the removal of the party leadership was not accepted by the court.

Savaş initiated legal proceedings for the cancellation of the CHP convention held on November 4-5, 2023. Claiming that the will of the delegates was influenced, Savaş requested that the powers of the party leadership be terminated.

In the petition, it was stated that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel won the election by a margin of 18 votes, and the phrase 'If certain crimes had not been committed, the election would have resulted in favor of the other candidate' was included.

The court evaluated the application and rejected Savaş's request.
