New details in the newborn scandal: Babies' lung X-rays were tampered with

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç, in his statement on Sözcü TV regarding the newborn scandal, said, "Currently, many of these hospitals are active. These are hospitals that rob the state to gain unfair profit. We are still allowing them to rob it. Their Social Security Institution (SGK) agreements have not been canceled. There are 19 hospitals." Erdinç stated that the babies' lung X-rays were tampered with and that arbitrary medications were administered.

Erdinç made the following remarks:

-The information provided in the Health Minister's statement is correct. When I researched this file, it started with a mother's complaint to the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER). The complaint reached the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate.

-Our competent doctors and professors who do their jobs properly went and conducted an investigation and prepared a report. It was determined that irregularities were being committed in the neonatal units of many hospitals, as mentioned in the tip-off. 

"THESE ARE HOSPITALS THAT ROB THE STATE"

-The Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate's report reached the Financial Crimes Branch, and an operation was carried out. Currently, many of these hospitals are active. These are hospitals that rob the state to gain unfair profit. We are still allowing them to rob it. Their SGK agreements have not been canceled. There are 19 hospitals. 

-We are talking about 15 hospitals whose operations were taken over by a doctor named Fırat Sarı. 60 percent remains with the hospital, and 40 percent remains with Fırat Sarı and his gang. 

"LUNG X-RAYS WERE TAMPERED WITH"

-The lung X-rays of newborns and babies receiving treatment were tampered with.

-There is a hospital in Avcılar, and we know that this hospital belongs to former Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu. 

"YOU MUST CANCEL THE SGK AGREEMENT"

-They give arbitrary medications to some babies. It is clear that some babies are severely disabled. 

-You must cancel the SGK agreement with the reports in hand. If the SGK agreement is canceled, none of these hospitals can survive. They are feeding off the state. 

-For example, there are 25 babies in the neonatal unit; it came out in the wiretaps, the nurse says, 'An inspection is coming, what should I do with these three babies?' she says. 

"WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A FRAUD EXCEEDING 1 BILLION TL SO FAR"

-We are talking about a fraud exceeding 1 billion TL so far. The picture is terrifying. This only applies to the hospitals currently under scrutiny. Tip-offs are still pouring in. 

-While inspectors are conducting audits, they ask how a baby who was intubated 15 minutes ago could have recovered. Can such a thing be possible? 

-Teams arrived within the framework of the complaints, kept their reports, and there are also tip-offs from healthcare workers.

ERDİNÇ'S CALL TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

First, the SGK agreements of these hospitals must be canceled. Second, if necessary, the state should seize the assets of these hospitals due to money laundering and unfair profit. Third, many tip-offs are coming in; infant deaths must be investigated. It must be revealed which hospitals are at fault.
