New details on the 'newborn gang': Their irregularities were caught in an audit

Details continue to emerge in the 'newborn gang' scandal, in which babies were pushed toward death to collect a daily payment of 8,000 TL from the SGK.

According to wiretap records included in the indictment, in a conversation between suspect nurse Çağla Durmuş and a person identified as T.B. in November 2023, it was revealed that Durmuş told T.B. to document a treatment method for one of the babies as if it had been applied when it had not, and that this situation was later noticed during audits.

It was revealed that in her conversation, Durmuş used expressions to T.B. such as, "Let's show it in the file as if it was intubated instead of not tolerating it, okay? Keep in mind, if an audit or something comes up, you can say something like 'it was just extubated, I'm switching to CPAP now,' okay?"

THERE IS ALSO AN OFFICIAL REPORT

On the other hand, the conversation contents also showed that they falsely documented the use of certain medications in files to obtain illicit gains from the SGK.

The statements in the indictment also noted that during an audit conducted by the Provincial Health Directorate at this hospital, an official report was prepared stating that there might have been an error in the treatment applied to the baby in question.
