New details on the terrorist attack on TUSAŞ! 'A massacre could have happened at the gate...'
Journalist İsmail Saymaz highlighted security vulnerabilities in the terrorist attack carried out by the PKK organization on TUSAŞ, which resulted in the martyrdom of 5 people. Writing that the terrorists arrived in Ankara 5 days ago, Saymaz stated, "Shifts at TUSAŞ end at 15:00. If the PKK members had arrived 25 minutes earlier, a massacre could have occurred at the gate."
Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz shared information he obtained regarding the TUSAŞ attack by the terrorist organization PKK, in which 5 people were martyred and 22 were injured.
Pointing out that there were intelligence and security vulnerabilities in the attack, Saymaz wrote that the terrorists had arrived in Ankara 5 days ago.
Emphasizing that the terrorists specifically chose the taxi, Saymaz stated, "It is understood that they chose the taxi based on intelligence. Because this taxi stand primarily serves TUSAŞ employees. This method was chosen because going by taxi would not arouse suspicion."
"IF THEY HAD COME HALF AN HOUR EARLIER, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER"
Writing that there is a security barrier before reaching the G-1 gate of TUSAŞ and that the barrier is mostly open, Saymaz claimed that the terrorists were aware of this vulnerability.
Saymaz provided the following information regarding the heinous attack:
"If they had come half an hour earlier, it would have been a disaster.
The G-1 gate, which the PKK members attacked, is a gate frequently preferred by technicians and workers to go to work. Employees' vehicles or shuttles are parked just outside this gate.
Furthermore, mail and courier services are provided at this gate. Material and food trucks pull up to this gate.
Shifts at TUSAŞ end at 15:00. If the PKK members had arrived 25 minutes earlier, a massacre could have occurred at the gate."
"As soon as the PKK members got out of the vehicle, they martyred a private security guard. Other security guards, despite having long-barreled weapons, were afraid and moved away." Saymaz continued as follows:
"The fact that the Special Operations base is in Sincan and very close facilitated the intervention. The Special Operations teams, who reached TUSAŞ within minutes, engaged in a clash with the PKK members. The female terrorist carried out a suicide attack after throwing 4-5 hand grenades at the police. The police were injured by hand grenade shrapnel."
"IF HE HAD CONTINUED, HE COULD HAVE KILLED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE"
Writing that the male terrorist who crossed the barrier entered the human resources and training building, Saymaz stated, "It is understood that the security guard at the door of the building fled. The PKK member was neutralized while firing indiscriminately and moving to the upper floors. If he had continued, he could have killed hundreds of people."
Stating that, contrary to what was thought, no one was taken hostage in the heinous attack, Saymaz wrote that the people thought to be hostages were those who had come to TUSAŞ for training.
TUSAŞ EMPLOYEES SPOKE
Saymaz also shared his meeting with TUSAŞ employees regarding the attack.
The rest of the article is as follows:
"TUSAŞ employees who were inside at the moment of the attack described what they experienced to me as follows:
“We were in a meeting in a building 50 meters from the gate. The window of the meeting room looks out onto the back of the G-1 gate through a gap. Suddenly, there were popping sounds. People were running away. We said, 'Someone is joking.' You can't believe it because. Then a bomb went off. A very large explosion… The room's window came and went. We threw ourselves to the ground. We got up and looked out the window. We saw people running at the turnstiles. One of them looked injured. We became anxious. We moved away from the windows. Not a minute or two passed before they said, 'You need to evacuate the building.' At that moment, the terrorist had entered the human resources building next door. We evacuated the building. Gunshots came from behind us. We ran inside. They said, 'Go to the production building,' so we went. They said, 'Go further,' so we went far away, to the end of the flight line. There were hundreds of us. Ambulance helicopters and Special Operations teams landed there. We went to a more secure building, they gave us water in the meeting room, and we waited for news.”
I asked the TUSAŞ employees, “Is there a security vulnerability?”
They replied as follows:
“Given that they were able to pass through so easily, there is.”
