New development in corruption investigation into IMM: Files separated
As part of the 'corruption' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Ekrem İmamoğlu, the files of CHP deputies Özgür Karabat and Turan Taşkın Özer have been separated and sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu by the duty magistrate in the 'corruption' investigation, the files of CHP deputies Özgür Karabat and Turan Taşkın Özer have been separated and sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as the investigation continues.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an ex officio investigation into suspects identified as having made statements containing insults against the President and his family during events that took place at the IMM building and on certain streets and avenues following İmamoğlu's arrest, within the framework of the "terrorism and corruption" investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Ekrem İmamoğlu. 206 suspects were detained on charges of 'violating the law on meetings and demonstration marches', 'resisting a public official', and 'insulting the President'.
FILES OF TWO CHP DEPUTIES SENT TO ANKARA
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that an investigation needed to be carried out regarding CHP Istanbul deputies Özgür Karabat and Turan Taşkın Özer based on information, documents, and witness statements. However, because the individuals in question are members of parliament, the investigation documents concerning them were separated. The separated case files were sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that the authority to conduct the investigation lies with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
