New development in espionage investigation: Aaron Barr, whom Hüseyin Gün called his 'partner', makes a statement

Hüseyin Gün, who is described as a 'key figure' in the espionage investigation that led to the arrests of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Necati Özkan, and journalist Merdan Yanardağ and who has benefited from effective remorse provisions, stated in his testimony that former CIA employee Aaron Barr was his partner.

Gün said the following in his testimony:

"He is both a partner in the company and in charge of the technical side. He would prepare the reports to be forwarded to Ekrem İMAMOĞLU. In these reports, Aaron BARR would determine the path Ekrem İMAMOĞLU would follow and which issues he would focus on."

Aaron Barr, whom Gün called his 'partner,' has made a statement. Responding to a social media user, Barr noted the following:

"Calm down, because I have never worked in your country. I have never worked for the CHP. I was the CTO of a social media analysis company. You should look carefully at those who lie to you. The MIT must show evidence. Do they have Mr. Gün's laptops and mobile devices? Where is the evidence?"

WHAT HAPPENED?

IMM Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ—who was appointed a trustee—and İmamoğlu's advisor and election campaign director Necati Özkan were arrested on October 27 on charges of "political espionage."

İmamoğlu had previously been arrested as part of an investigation conducted on allegations of "corruption," marking the second time he has been sent to prison.

In the statement by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that İmamoğlu, defined as the "leader of the organization," had "seized the CHP through illegal means to establish the 'İmamoğlu Profit-Oriented Criminal Organization,' committed financial crimes to create a fund for his presidential candidacy, and in this process, engaged in espionage by transferring the personal data of citizens in Istanbul to foreign intelligence services."

It was stated that Hüseyin Gün, who emerged as the central figure in the investigation, provided a detailed statement to benefit from "effective remorse" provisions. It was learned that Gün gave a total of 262 pages of testimony to the police before his arrest on July 4.
