New development in illegal betting investigation! Serdar Ortaç's house arrest lifted

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations of encouraging illegal betting, 16 suspects, including singer Serdar Ortaç, presenter Mehmet Ali Erbil, and former football player Batuhan Karadeniz, had been referred to the courthouse with a request for arrest.

Mehmet Ali Erbil and Serdar Ortaç were released under judicial control conditions and 'house arrest'.

While a large portion of the social media influencers were arrested, a house arrest decision was issued for Erbil and Ortaç.

TRIAL TO BEGIN ON DECEMBER 24

According to the report by Deniz Yusufoğlu from Sabah, as the investigation expanded, an indictment was prepared against Serdar Ortaç, seeking a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years for the crime of "encouraging and advertising illegal betting."

The Criminal Court of First Instance, which accepted the indictment, had decided that Ortaç would appear before the judge on December 24. On the other hand, the preliminary proceedings report had decided that Serdar Ortaç's house arrest would continue.

HOUSE ARREST LIFTED

Serdar Ortaç's lawyer, Esennur Ezgi, filed an objection by submitting a petition for the removal of the judicial control in the form of house arrest. The High Criminal Court, which evaluated the objection, lifted Serdar Ortaç's house arrest.
