New development in the İnan Kıraç case: Treatment blocked, nurses denied entry to home

A new development has emerged regarding 88-year-old İnan Kıraç, a prominent figure at Koç Holding who was appointed a legal guardian in recent months. The prosecutor's office has issued an indictment against Emine Alangoya, his spouse in a marriage that was annulled by the court, and several of his employees.

According to a report by Bülent Aydemir from Habertürk, the disputes surrounding the health status and marriage of İnan Kıraç, who recently ended a years-long estrangement with his daughter İpek Kıraç, have been brought to the judiciary.

ANTALYA AND BODRUM TRIPS IN THE FILE

In the petition submitted to the prosecutor's office by İpek Kıraç, it was stated that Emine Alangoya and her assistants took İnan Kıraç to Antalya and Bodrum by road on various dates, and that these journeys constituted the crime of "deprivation of liberty."

The indictment highlights the trips taken on May 3, 2025, to Bodrum, May 10 to Antalya, and May 23, when he was taken to the house in Vaniköy before being discharged from the hospital.

TREATMENT BLOCKED, NURSES DENIED ENTRY TO HOME

According to expert reports and witness statements included in the file, it was stated that Emine Alangoya did not accept İnan Kıraç's dementia diagnosis or the necessity of his treatment, did not allow the nurses sent by the legal guardian into the residence, and delayed check-ups and medical examinations.

Furthermore, it was noted that Kıraç, who is diabetic, was given sweets and that his health checks were systematically obstructed. It was emphasized that this situation negatively affected Kıraç's health process.

ASSESSMENT OF "NO CRIME OF TORTURE"

Although it was alleged that the long road trips constituted "systematic torture," it was concluded that this did not constitute the "crime of torture" because assistants accompanied the victim during the journeys. However, strong evidence was found that the crime of "deprivation of liberty" had been committed.

PRISON DEMAND AND TRIAL PROCESS

The prosecutor's office has prepared an indictment seeking prison sentences for the suspects Emine Alangoya, Kenan İpek, Ali Şenol, and Barış Coşkun. It was stated that Emine Alangoya's denials did not align with the statements of other suspects and concrete evidence.

Although it was noted that the charges are subject to reconciliation under Article 253 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK), it was reported that the indictment was prepared without applying reconciliation provisions due to the fact that the crime of "deprivation of liberty" had also been committed.
