New development in the Maydonoz Döner investigation: Operation expands! Number of detentions rises, arrests made...

The operation targeting the financial structure of FETÖ within the Maydonoz Döner restaurant chain is expanding. The number of provinces where the operation is being carried out has risen to 32, and the number of detentions has reached 372.

The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse. Following questioning by the prosecutor's office, 126 people in total, including 4 public officials, were arrested by the duty magistrate judges.

While 156 people were released under judicial control conditions, 90 people were released after their procedures at the police station and the prosecutor's office.

AMONG THEM ARE JUDGES AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS DISMISSED BY DECREE-LAW

Within the scope of the operation, the chairman of the board of directors of the restaurant chain, Ö.Ş., and 6 board members were also referred to the courthouse.

Furthermore, it was learned that among the suspects are judges and public officials who were previously dismissed by decree-law (KHK) on the grounds of having links to FETÖ.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced in a statement on February 21 that 353 people, determined to have provided financing to the organization through a döner restaurant chain, were captured in the Kıskaç-40 operation carried out against FETÖ in 31 provinces centered in Antalya. The number of detentions later rose to 372.

STRIKING CONFESSIONS FROM A FORMER EMPLOYEE

As the investigation progresses, new details regarding the restaurant chain are emerging.

According to the allegations, a person named R.Ö., who worked at one of the restaurant's branches, was subjected to pressure when they wanted to benefit from effective remorse provisions. It was claimed that mobbing was applied using excuses related to turnover drops and workplace order.

It emerged that R.Ö. wrote a confession letter to CİMER, stating the restaurant chain's connection to FETÖ and that the suspects held secret meetings. R.Ö., whose statement was taken by the prosecutor's office, explained that they started working as a waiter through a person they knew had links to the organization and made various confessions.
