New development in the stone-throwing attack case against İmamoğlu
The trial regarding the stone-throwing attack on Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu during his 'Public Meeting' in Erzurum prior to the presidential elections continued today at the Erzurum 7th Criminal Court of First Instance.

The prosecutor, who presented their final opinion regarding the stone-throwing attack on İmamoğlu at the Erzurum rally, requested that all defendants be punished separately.
According to the report by Emrullah Bayrak from Gazete Duvar, the public prosecutor presented their final opinion on the merits in the case where 28 defendants are being tried in connection with the stone-throwing attack.
Requesting that all defendants be punished in line with the indictment prepared, the prosecutor argued that the events were not organized.
ON CHARGES OF ATTEMPTED INTENTIONAL INJURY
In the indictment, it is requested that Barış S., Cengiz E., Şenol Ç., Abdulhakim U., and Murat A. be sentenced to 1 year and 6 months to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "attempted intentional injury with a weapon";
and that Ahmet K., Doğukan K., Enes Y., Emrah T., Abdullah A., Dursun P., Ferdi S., Furkan K., Muhammed Haktan S., Muhammet Emin Ö., Oğuzhan U., Osman K., Ömür K., Serhat K., Serhat M., Soner H., Vefa Ö., Yakup Emre A., Muhammed Ç., Muhammed K., Muhammed Akif K., and Yunus Emre D. be sentenced to 2 years and 9 months to 8 years and 3 months in prison for the crimes of "attempted intentional injury with a weapon" and "attempted simple injury with a weapon."
TRIAL ADJOURNED
The Erzurum 7th Criminal Court of First Instance granted time to the plaintiffs' and defendants' lawyers to prepare their defense against the prosecutor's final opinion.
The hearing was adjourned until July 17, 2024.
