New development in the case of Fatma Kınık, daughter of former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık!

The first hearing of the case regarding the accident caused by Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir, daughter of former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık, which led to the death of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki and left two others injured, was held on October 30 at the Istanbul Anadolu 8th High Criminal Court.

According to a report by İsmail Arı from Birgün, it was revealed during the hearing, which was closed to the press and the public, that in addition to the lifting of Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir's judicial control measures, a decision was made to conduct a crime scene investigation.

The court's decision record stated the following:

“It has been decided to conduct a crime scene investigation at the location of the incident in the presence of a deputy judge, with the assistance of traffic and photography experts, to determine the degree of fault regarding the crime charged against the defendant and the child driven to crime, and to obtain a report; the investigation is to be conducted on December 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM.

A writ shall be sent to the Beykoz District Police Department to inquire whether any MOBESE camera footage of the moment of the incident exists, and if found, it is requested to be sent to our court,

For this reason, it has been decided to adjourn the hearing to January 29, 2025, at 10:40 AM.”

WHAT HAPPENED

In the accident that occurred on July 9 on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street in the Kavacık neighborhood of Istanbul's Beykoz district, Fatma Zehra Kınık hit a motorcycle while exiting Baki Street onto Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street.

In the accident, the motorcycle driver Yavuz Selim Öztürk and the passenger behind him, Batın Barlasçeki, fell from the motorcycle, and the riderless motorcycle continued to hit pedestrians, causing injuries. While the driver Öztürk survived the accident with injuries, Barlasçeki, who hit his head on a concrete bollard on the sidewalk, lost his life. The car driver, Fatma Zehra Kınık, who was taken into custody, was released by the court to be tried without arrest.

Recently, an indictment was prepared by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Fatma Zehra Kınık for the incident that caused the death of 1 person and injuries to 4 people, on charges of "causing death and injury by negligence."

The indictment requested that Fatma Zehra Kınık be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 2 to 15 years for the crime of "causing death and injury by negligence."
