New development in the 'Cooperative Case' in İzmir: Chief Public Prosecutor's Office objects to the release of Aslanoğlu and Lübiç

The judicial process, initiated following allegations of corruption and irregularities in construction projects in return for land in İzmir's Karabağlar 3rd and 4th stages, Gaziemir Emrez Neighborhood, and Örnekköy 3rd and 4th stages, known publicly as the "Cooperative case," continues.

A total of 65 defendants, including Tunç Soyer, who served as the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality between 2019 and 2024, the then-CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Barış Karcı, and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, are being tried at the İzmir 23rd High Criminal Court.

In the second hearing, the court decided to continue the detention of Tunç Soyer, Barış Karcı, and Heval Savaş Kaya, while ruling for the release of Şenol Aslanoğlu, Cihangir Lübiç, and Hüseyin Şimşek under house arrest (judicial control) conditions.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has objected to the release decisions granted for Şenol Aslanoğlu and Cihangir Lübiç.
