Following the events in Karabük, the death of Gabonese university student Jeannah Dinabongho Ibouanga, whose lifeless body was found in the Filyos River, has returned to the agenda.

According to the report in BirGün; Nil Delahaye from Feminists for Dina, who reminded that the third hearing of the case opened regarding Dina's death will be held on April 29, stated in her statement on the subject: "Dina's mother and father come to follow this case, where a decision will be made regarding Dina's death at every hearing, in a place where they do not know anyone and in a foreign language. The fact that the Gabonese state's representative office in Turkey has declared that it is following the case reduces the feeling of loneliness for the family during this difficult period they are going through."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The lifeless body of Dina, a Gabonese student studying in Karabük, was found in the Filyos River on March 26, 2023. While the police focused on the possibility that Ibouanga was taken to a wooded area by a car, a total of 8 people, 3 of whom were not Turkish citizens, were detained. While a decision of non-prosecution was issued for 7 people detained within the scope of the investigation, the defendant Dursun A. was arrested. An aggravated life sentence for the crime of "intentional killing" and up to 15 years in prison for the charge of "sexual assault" were requested for Dursun A.
