New development in the 'electric shock' tragedy in İzmir

Thirty-one out of 35 suspects have been apprehended in connection with the deaths of two people who were electrocuted while trying to take shelter from a downpour in İzmir's Konak district.

New development in the 'electric shock' tragedy in İzmir

The investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the deaths of Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay, who were electrocuted after stepping into a puddle during a downpour in İzmir's Konak district on July 12, is ongoing.

The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued detention orders for 6 more suspects in connection with the incident. It was stated that 2 of the suspects are employees of Gdz Elektrik, and 4 are employees of İZSU.

Teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, Homicide Bureau, have apprehended 31 out of a total of 35 suspects following the additional detention orders issued as part of the investigation.

Six of these suspects were released after giving their statements. Efforts to apprehend the remaining 4 suspects continue as part of the investigation.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay lost their lives after being electrocuted when they stepped into a puddle during a downpour in the Konak district on July 12, and the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had previously issued detention orders for 29 suspects as part of the investigation.
