New development in the Sabancı inheritance dispute

Sevgi Sabancı, 61, one of the three children born from İhsan Sabancı's unofficial relationship, has taken the matter to court, claiming that her share of the family inheritance was unfairly taken from her. Sevgi Sabancı is demanding her share of the stocks in Akbank, which has a market value of 340 billion liras and is part of Sabancı Holding.

She has filed a lawsuit against 7 individuals and companies, including Güler Sabancı, Yakup Sabancı, Hacı Ömer Sabancı Holding, and Akbank. With this lawsuit filed at the Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance, there are now a total of 9 separate lawsuits against the family. Sevgi Sabancı has requested the collection of her 1/48 share from her grandfather Hacı Ömer Sabancı and her 1/36 share from her grandmother Sadıka Sabancı.

THE AMOUNT OF THE SHARE WILL BE DETERMINED

According to the report by Sabah, since the inheritance was divided among the Sabancı family members following the deaths of both individuals, the lawsuit filed by Sevgi Sabancı will determine how much of a share she is entitled to. Accordingly, in order to recover the assets from the members of the Sabancı family, the questions regarding who received what share of the inheritance must be resolved. In this context, the court has written to both Sabancı Holding and Akbank, requesting the share ledgers of both institutions.

OTHER CASE FILES REQUESTED

The court has also taken action regarding the lawsuit Sevgi Sabancı filed against the Sabancı family at the Adana 4th Civil Court of Peace. The court has requested that all files related to the case be sent from the courts in Adana and Istanbul.

Sevgi Sabancı's lawyer, Ejder Demir, stated, "We have also initiated a legal battle for the shares in the bank belonging to the Sabancıs. Although Sevgi Sabancı is a member of the Sabancı family, she has not been allowed to benefit from the family's financial and moral values to date and has been excluded. Her rights were transferred in a collusive manner when she was 7 years old. We can say that obtaining her shares in the Sabancıs' Akbank has been added to this legal struggle of ours."
