Students staying at the KYK girls' dormitory in Cevizlibağ brought the situation to public attention after they returned from the break and realized that their belongings in their rooms had been rummaged through and many were missing.

According to the report revealed by T24, the students' suitcases were opened, their contents were scattered, and the locks on their locked cabinets were broken.

After the news about the incident quickly became a trending topic on social media, the Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that an investigation had been launched into the allegations regarding the Istanbul Atatürk Student Dormitory.

WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY

In a written statement from the Ministry, it was stated: "Some images and allegations regarding the Istanbul Atatürk Student Dormitory, which have appeared in the press and on social media, are being closely monitored by our ministry.

The situation in question is unacceptable, and it is understood that it occurred during a period when the dormitory was closed to service, renovation work was ongoing, and no students were present.

An administrative investigation has been immediately launched regarding the incident, and the matter has been referred to judicial authorities. All necessary procedures regarding those responsible are being carried out meticulously." The complaints made by the students to the dormitory management remained unanswered.

“THEY RUMMAGED THROUGH OUR UNDERWEAR”

Speaking to 12punto, a student who has been staying at the KYK Cevizlibağ Atatürk Girls' Dormitory for a long time described the process she experienced after returning from the break with these words:

“The bags were torn, my letters were opened, and they were actually looking for items of value. And they attacked our personal belongings. They rummaged through our underwear. Almost every room was searched in this way, and the belongings in every room were rummaged through. The locks on some of our friends' locked cabinets were broken. They stole our valuables.”

“DO NOT SCARE THE NEW STUDENTS”

The student, who went to the dormitory management to describe the scene in their rooms, stated that the management told the students, “Girls, don't do this, don't scare the new students, the text you will receive when you write to CİMER is clear,” and added: “They are trying to say 'you shouldn't have left them' because we left belongings in the dormitory. We persistently asked about the construction company they work with, and they did not give us an answer.”

“THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOOD OR BAD PUBLICITY”

According to another student from a group of students, the dormitory director went out to the garden and gave a speech to the staff about the events, saying, “Even relatives who never call me are calling me, inspectors are on my back, you might see me dismissed from my post.” The student stated that upon this, the staff applauded the dormitory director, saying “we are behind you,” and noted that the director later said, “there is no such thing as good or bad publicity.”
