New development in the Yunus Emre Foundation fake invoice investigation!
E.A., the son of the foundation's former president and fugitive suspect Şeref Ateş, has been apprehended as part of an investigation into allegations that the Yunus Emre Foundation was defrauded through fake invoices issued by shell companies.
A new development has occurred in the investigation into former executives of the Yunus Emre Institute, affiliated with the Yunus Emre Foundation, who allegedly generated illicit gains by issuing fake invoices, a case in which 8 people have already been arrested.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, E.A., the son of the foundation's former president and fugitive suspect Şeref Ateş, for whom a detention warrant had been issued, was taken into custody in Istanbul.
It was determined that the suspect E.A. was the individual who established some of the shell companies mentioned in the criminal complaint filed by the General Directorate of Foundations' Board of Inspectors, and subsequently transferred them to other suspects.
It was learned that the suspect will be brought to Ankara to provide a statement to the prosecutor conducting the investigation.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation following a criminal complaint by the General Directorate of Foundations' Board of Inspectors alleging that the Yunus Emre Foundation had been defrauded through fake invoices obtained from shell companies.
The prosecutor's office, which initiated the investigation on charges of "embezzlement," "breach of trust due to service," "rigging the performance of an act," "forgery," "qualified fraud," and "laundering assets derived from crime," had issued detention warrants for 15 people, including former employees of the institution, 11 of whom were apprehended.
Of the 11 suspects taken into custody, 8 were arrested.
