New development regarding detained DEM Party co-mayors
Akdeniz Municipality Co-Mayors Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Arslan, who are under the administration of the DEM Party, have been referred to the courthouse.
In an operation conducted in Mersin on January 10, Akdeniz Municipality Co-Mayors Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Arslan, along with municipal council members Özgür Çağlar, Neslihan Oruç, Yakup Danış, and Hikmet Bakırhan, were taken into custody.
The individuals were referred to the courthouse following their statements at the police station.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Under the coordination of the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Provincial Security Directorate had launched an investigation into those suspected of committing the crimes of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," "being a member of an armed terrorist organization," "violating the Law on the Prevention of Financing of Terrorism," and "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911."
Within the scope of the investigation, Akdeniz Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız, Deputy Mayor and Council Member Nuriye Arslan, and Akdeniz Municipality DEM Party council members Özgür Çağlar, Neslihan Oruç, Yakup Danış, and Hikmet Bakırhan were taken into custody.
