WHAT HAPPENED?
Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, known for his proximity to the government, was detained in operations conducted as part of an investigation into illegal betting and money laundering.
Minister Akın Gürlek had announced that simultaneous operations were carried out against 200 suspects in 21 provinces, and it was determined that approximately 100 billion liras and 2 billion dollars in criminal proceeds were laundered within the financial system.
The detention period for Kütahyalı and other suspects detained in the same operation had been extended. They were subsequently arrested.
Kütahyalı had requested to be released, citing his wife's pregnancy in the face of multi-million lira money transfers; meanwhile, the list of assets reflected in the 244-page statement file drew attention with luxury vehicles and real estate in Istanbul.
