New development regarding released crime syndicate leader Arabacı

Following long-term intelligence efforts conducted by the İzmir Police Department's Organized Crime Bureau, Coşkun Necati Arabacı, who is alleged to be the founder and leader of an organized crime syndicate, was detained in an operation carried out at Adnan Menderes Airport on the morning of October 5.

It was determined that the 53-year-old Arabacı, known as the 'Godfather of Cologne,' was involved in numerous illegal activities, primarily money laundering, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling. Arabacı, who was captured in an operation conducted under tight security measures, was taken to the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime Bureau for questioning. After his procedures were completed on October 8, he was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court.

The İzmir 26th Criminal Court of First Instance decided to release Arabacı, who is being tried for "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes" and "qualified extortion," under judicial control conditions. However, the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the decision. Evaluating the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's appeal, the İzmir 1st High Criminal Court overturned the release decision issued by the Criminal Court of First Instance.
