New development regarding the prosecutor who shot a female judge at the courthouse

An important development has occurred in the investigation into the shooting of Aslı Kahraman, a judge at the 23rd Criminal Chamber serving at the Kartal Regional Court of Justice. Public Prosecutor Muhammed Çağatay Kılıçaslan, who was identified as the perpetrator of the armed attack on the judge and had been held in custody, was sent to the courthouse following his processing at the police station.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

In the incident that took place at the Kartal Regional Court of Justice on January 13 at approximately 13:00, Public Prosecutor Muhammed Çağatay Kılıçaslan, who serves at the Anatolian Courthouse, fired his weapon while in the same room as 23rd Criminal Chamber Judge Aslı Kahraman. As a result of the gunfire, Kahraman was wounded in the groin area.

It was learned that Yakup Karadağ, a tea server assigned to the courthouse while serving as a convict at the Maltepe Open Penal Institution, prevented the attacker from firing a second time.

While the wounded judge was taken to the hospital by medical teams called to the scene, the attacker, Prosecutor Kılıçaslan, was taken into custody by police teams.
