New development regarding those detained at the Gezi commemoration! Arrest requested for 2 people
Out of the 94 people detained during the police intervention at the commemoration event held in Taksim for the 12th anniversary of the Gezi Resistance, 12 were referred to the courthouse. An arrest was requested for 2 of these individuals, while judicial control was requested for 10.
On the 12th anniversary of the Gezi Resistance, despite an extraordinary blockade, the commemoration took place yesterday at 19:00 at the intersection of Süslü Saksı Street and Mis Street, following a call by Taksim Solidarity saying "The darkness will pass, Gezi will remain."
POLICE BLOCKADE IN TAKSIM
Following the press statement, police intervened against youth organizations that wanted to march to Taksim. While some of the students marched from Taksim to Şişhane with slogans, 94 people were detained under the police blockade.
ARREST REQUEST FOR 2 PEOPLE
While 82 of those detained were released at night, 12 were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan today.
2 people were referred to the duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, and 10 people were referred with a request for judicial control.
