New 'Kanal İstanbul' statement from Minister Kurum: We are building social housing
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum answered journalists' questions during his visit to Malatya. In response to questions, Kurum made a new statement regarding Kanal İstanbul.
Stating that public housing is being built in the specified area, Kurum said that despite this, the opposition claims that the houses there will be sold to Arabs.
Minister Kurum said, "They talk about Kanal İstanbul, luxury residences in Arnavutköy. We explain, they don't listen. They are always chasing a perception. We say it is housing, yet they say 'it will be sold to Arabs'."
Murat Kurum stated that they have not sold any of the public housing they have built so far to anyone who is not a Turkish citizen. He characterized the opposition's statements as attempts to create a false perception.
Stating that their explanations are not being listened to, Minister Kurum said, "We will continue to keep the promises we made to our citizens."
Murat Kurum stated that 4,295 buildings in Istanbul have minor damage.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum also addressed CHP Chairman Özgür Özel as follows:
"My advice to Mr. Özgür is that instead of obsessing over me with such false slanders, he should take the blindfold off his eyes and look around; perhaps then he will see very well what is being done around him."
