New poverty line according to BİSAM data...

The DİSK United Metal-Workers' Union Research Center (BİSAM) has released its hunger and poverty threshold report for the October 2023 period.

Accordingly, as of October, the hunger threshold, which covers the monthly kitchen expenses for a family of four, was 12 thousand 928 TL.

The poverty line, which also includes expenses for education, health, housing, entertainment, heating, and transportation, reached 44 thousand 718 TL.

DAILY COST OF HEALTHY NUTRITION IS 430 TL

According to BİSAM data, in September, the hunger threshold was 12 thousand 612 TL, and the poverty line was 43 thousand 623 TL.

In a written statement issued by BİSAM, it was stated that the daily cost of healthy and balanced nutrition exceeded 430 TL.

The monthly cost of food required for an adult male to maintain a healthy and balanced diet was 3 thousand 538 TL.

This figure was 3 thousand 387 TL for an adult woman, 3 thousand 639 TL for a teenager aged 15-18, and 2 thousand 365 TL for a child aged 4-6.

HIGHEST COST WAS IN MILK AND DAIRY PRODUCTS

According to BİSAM's calculations, the milk and dairy products group constituted the highest cost group in daily expenditures in September 2023, with a requirement of 138.16 liras.

The minimum expenditure required for the meat, chicken, and fish group stood out at 81.94 TL.

While the daily expenditure required for vegetables and fruit reached 89.38 liras, the expenditure required for bread was 33.38 liras per day, and for solid and liquid fats, it was 23.99 liras.
