The change made by the new rector of Anadolu University, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Adıgüzel, in his office caught the attention of the people of Eskişehir. The rector's first act was to change the large portrait of Atatürk.

CHP Eskişehir Provincial Chair Talat Yalaz said, “Although such issues may seem simple, they are important because they reflect the universities' perspective on Atatürk. We sent a large portrait of Atatürk as a New Year's gift.”
Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) Eskişehir Branch President Cihan Taşar also reacted to the rector.

Taşar argued that changing the photo sizes was “an effort to show the greatness of President Erdoğan.”
