New regulation for applications to Consumer Arbitration Committees
A new regulation has been introduced for applications made to Consumer Arbitration Committees. According to this regulation, which will be implemented as of January 1, 2025, applications can be made to Consumer Arbitration Committees for disputes under 149 thousand TL.
The Ministry of Trade has prepared a communiqué regarding the increase of the monetary limits specified in Article 68 of the Law on the Protection of Consumers No. 6502 and Article 6 of the Regulation on Consumer Arbitration Committees. The decision has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.
MONETARY LIMIT RENEWED
With the new regulation, the monetary limits required for applications to be made to consumer arbitration committees have been recalculated according to the 43.93% revaluation rate determined for 2024 and updated to be valid as of January 1, 2025.
DISPUTES UNDER 149 THOUSAND TL
Throughout 2025, applications can be made to Provincial or District Consumer Arbitration Committees for consumer disputes with a value under 149 thousand TL.
Furthermore, based on Article 77 of the same law, the administrative fines to be applied for 2025 have also been increased according to the 43.93% revaluation rate. The communiqué regarding administrative fines has also been published in the Official Gazette.
