New regulation from banks: Will only be done via ATMs

Banks operating across Turkey have entered a new era for cash withdrawal transactions under 20,000 TL. According to the decision taken, transactions below this amount can now only be performed via ATMs. Banks have taken this step to reduce the density at bank counters.

According to the report by Sözcü, this regulation may particularly affect retirees, elderly individuals, and citizens who are not tech-savvy. Considering that the lowest pension in Turkey is 14,469 TL, millions of people are directly affected by this regulation.

STEP TAKEN DUE TO COUNTER CONGESTION

Although there are 49,847 ATMs across Turkey, the congestion in bank counter queues was still persisting. Banks are directing customers toward more active use of ATMs to both reduce customer traffic and speed up transactions.
