In the March 31 Local Administration General Elections, the IYI Party received 9 thousand 236 votes in the Niğde Municipality mayoral race.
Stating that they did not achieve the success they expected, IYI Party Niğde Corporate Policies President Leyla Bozkurt announced her resignation in a statement.
"THE NECESSARY ANSWER HAS BEEN GIVEN TO MS. MERAL"
Bozkurt's statement is as follows:
"Exactly 8 years ago, it became a necessity for me to start active politics to prevent the bad course of our country, to dismantle the one-man regime that mortgages the future of our future generations, to destroy the anti-Atatürk AK Party mentality, and to ensure that Atatürk and the Republic of Turkey exist forever. In an environment where no political leader or party had the power to do these things, we came together with rightists and leftists and founded the IYI Party as an alternative party. However, thanks to our Chairperson Meral Akşener, who traded the people she set out with for those she found along the way, lost her founding values, displayed inconsistent behaviors, and made major gaffes by placing the metropolitan mayors she had praised and helped get elected at the center of her criticisms in the March 31 Local Elections, our vote share, which once saw 17 percent, has fallen to 3.5 percent today. The superhuman struggle we gave has been in vain, but the Turkish nation has formed its own alliance and given the necessary answer to Ms. Meral. It has shown that hope always exists for the Turkish nation. From today on, while I am ending my active political life, I will be on the side of and a supporter of every move to be made for the end of the AK Party. I will fulfill my civic duty and support this wind, even if it is with my single vote, in the footsteps of Atatürk, for the existence of the Republic of Turkey, and for our glorious Turkish flag to wave forever. If I have any rights, I grant them to my friends and colleagues with whom I walked this path in this sacred cause; may you also grant me yours."
