New role for women from Yeni Şafak columnist Aktay! 'Measures can be taken to make having children a profession'

Pro-government Yeni Şafak newspaper columnist Yasin Aktay, in his article titled "To save the family," stated that having children could be defined as a 'profession' for women.

In his article, Aktay wrote, "The danger posed by the family and the tragic decline in our population growth rate is greater than we think. Moreover, this is a decline that has been coming in plain sight for years. Since the very first years of his premiership, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been pointing to this danger and, in his own way, encouraging people to have more children against this threat. We have mentioned this before; thanks to these campaigns he has conducted, the social pressure on couples with many children has largely decreased, at least among broad segments of society."

"IT SHOULD BE FELT THAT IT IS AN ADVANTAGEOUS CAREER"

Listing his 'proposals' in 4 points, Aktay said, "Housewifery and motherhood must also be sufficiently rewarded and appreciated. Women or their husbands should not think that they have brought a great burden upon themselves when they have a child. In fact, doing both a career and having children, and doing both at a certain quality, is much harder than it is thought. Mothers and fathers who suffer through this know this best, of course. Therefore, those who prefer motherhood over a career should be made to feel that motherhood is also a sufficiently valuable and advantageous career; both materially and spiritually."

"MEASURES CAN BE TAKEN TO MAKE IT A PROFESSION"

Aktay also said the following:

"In particular, measures can be taken to make establishing a family and having children a prestigious mission, or even a profession, for women. A salary, insurance, and retirement rights, etc., to be granted to women based on the number of children can certainly be considered.

I will record this suggestion of mine, even at the risk of testing the nerves of our dear minister Mehmet Şimşek, who himself came from a family with many children to reach where he is today."
