New snow forecast from AKOM

As winter preparations continue in Istanbul, the date when snowfall will begin in the city has been a subject of curiosity. Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) Head Ergün Cebeci provided a clear date regarding the expected snowfall.

WHEN WILL THE SNOWFALL BEGIN?

Cebeci announced that the most likely period for snowfall in Istanbul will last from the beginning of January to mid-February. Stating that December precipitation will be within seasonal norms, Cebeci noted that temperatures will drop to winter levels in the last week of December. It was stated that March is expected to be relatively mild and rainy.

At the “Winter Preparation Works and Evaluation Meeting” held at the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) in Eyüpsultan, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's plans for combating winter conditions were discussed.

During the meeting, transportation, salt supplies, and other winter preparations were specifically addressed. Cebeci shared long-term weather forecasts and detailed the city's risk management efforts.
