Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for "DEM to meet with Imralı" prompted the DEM Party to take action and apply to the Ministry of Justice to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, while Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç had stated regarding the application in question, "We will determine a suitable time."

MHP leader Bahçeli, in his statement to journalists at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the evening of December 20, continued to insist on the DEM Party's request for an Imralı visit, saying, "We would be pleased by the meetings. I believe the decisions will also be auspicious for every person living in Turkey."

DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli stated regarding his party's Imralı application, "There is still no official response that has reached us. If there is a response, we will share it with the press and the public immediately, but there is no response yet. Of course, various comments are being made, statements are being made, and even the MHP Chairman is making statements on this issue and expressing his expectations, but there has still been no official response."
