New statement from TÜSİAD: 'Criticisms directed at our association...'
A new statement has been issued by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) following the investigation launched into Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras, Chairman of the High Advisory Council, due to remarks made at the General Assembly. The statement noted, "The expression of every issue, including criticisms directed at our association in the public sphere, should be viewed as a richness of the culture of debate and democracy in Turkey."
The Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) has issued a statement following the launch of an investigation into the association's High Advisory Council Chairman, Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras.
In its statement, TÜSİAD noted that as an association, it 'shares its assessments and recommendations, which it believes to be correct, with transparency, within the framework of respect for democratic institutions and rules and the principle of participatory democracy, with the goal of Turkey's development and the benefit of the entire society.'
'WE CAN ONLY MAKE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PERMANENT THROUGH THE RULE OF LAW'
The statement, published in writing on the association's official website, included the following remarks:
"As TÜSİAD, in line with the objectives in our charter, we always share our assessments and recommendations, which we believe to be correct, with transparency, within the framework of respect for democratic institutions and rules and the principle of participatory democracy, with the goal of our country's development and the benefit of the entire society.
As TÜSİAD, representing the voluntary union of business people and industrialists who work, produce, and provide employment for our country; we take up issues that will contribute to the prosperity and development of our country in an independent and impartial manner. We contribute to increasing Turkey's global competitiveness; we work in line with the high interests of our country through our representation power in the international business world.
The expression of every issue, including criticisms directed at our association in the public sphere, should be viewed as a richness of the culture of debate and democracy in Turkey.
We can only make economic development permanent through a state of law that is based on human rights and has adopted the principle of participatory democracy. It is our responsibility to our country to contribute to our common goals that will carry our country forward with our knowledge, experience, and recommendations."
