New transfer at Halk TV

Journalist Orhan Can, who was heading the YouTube channel of Yeniçağ, has parted ways with the institution.

Can has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of halktv.com.tr.

According to a report by Medyaradar, Orhan Can will begin his new role in September. This position was previously held by Ercüment İşleyen. Ercüment İşleyen had reached an agreement with sozcu.com.tr some time ago.

WHO IS ORHAN CAN?

Orhan Can, who has been in the media sector for many years, was involved in the establishment of Yeniçağ's YouTube channel and Habertürk television.

Can also served as the manager of Hürriyet Web TV for a period.

Born in 1962 in Kilis, where his teacher mother and Sergeant Major father were stationed, Orhan Can graduated from the Marmara University School of Press and Broadcasting (Faculty of Communication), Radio-Television department, following his studies at Haydarpaşa High School for Boys.

Orhan Can began his journalism career in 1985 as a sports reporter at Tan and Günaydın newspapers, and later transferred to Güneş newspaper.

Can subsequently worked as a night reporter at Gazete and Hürriyet newspapers in 1989, as the Kanal D Domestic News Manager in 1995, and as the Show TV News Manager in 1996, where he worked alongside Reha Muhtar.

Between 2001 and 2004, he worked with Ufuk Güldemir as the Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief, General Manager of the haberturk.com News Agency, General Manager of the Gazete Habertürk News Agency, and President of the Habertürk Broadcasting Group.

Serving as the SkyTürk News Coordinator in 2005, Orhan Can founded Yeniçağ TV in 2006 and managed it as the Editor-in-Chief.

Returning to Hürriyet newspaper in 2008, Orhan Can served as the founder and manager of Hürriyet WEB TV (Hürriyet TV) for 4.5 years.

Also working as a sports columnist at Hürriyet newspaper, Orhan Can worked at cumhuriyet.com.tr starting in April 2004, and joined the Cumhuriyet newspaper sports columnist staff starting in July.

Most recently, the experienced journalist Orhan Can, who was appointed to head the Yeniçağ and Günboyu websites and the Yeniçağ YouTube channel in 2020, will continue his career as the Editor-in-Chief at halktv.com.tr.

AWARDS

In 2016, Orhan Can's article titled "It Will Be Too Late Later," written against terrorism at the stadium during the Beşiktaş-Bursa match and published in Cumhuriyet newspaper, was selected as the Column of the Year by the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC), making him the Columnist of the Year.

In 2014, his article titled "Long Live Goodness, Down with Evil," published in Cumhuriyet newspaper, was selected as the Sports Column of the Year by the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC).

He received the 1st place award in the Free Writing category at the TSYD (Turkish Sports Writers Association) competitions for his article "Conscience and Revolution" published in Cumhuriyet newspaper, and the 2nd place award in the Match Report and Commentary category for his article "Karl Marx – Müslüm Baba."
