'Newborn Gang' showed no mercy even to a nurse's child

Nurse Arzu Başaran Başkıran, who worked in neonatal intensive care units and as 112 Emergency Service ambulance staff, recounted her experiences to Gökmen Ulu from Sözcü.

Stating that she was a victim of the 'Newborn Gang' and has been seeking justice for years, Başkıran said;

MY BABY WAS BORN HEALTHY

“I gave birth in 2016 at the Private Esencan Hospital, where Fehmi Alperen, one of the managers of the 'Newborn Gang', was the administrative chief. My baby was born healthy. In the intensive care unit, my child was dark blue and there was necrosis in the area where the kidney is located. According to the documents, my baby was intubated 6 hours late.

‘A FALSE EPICRISIS REPORT WAS PROVIDED’

The doctor disconnected my baby from the life support unit. My baby went into a coma. Severe heart failure developed, and their lungs failed. They were suffering from a brain hemorrhage. On the 16th day, we took our baby to another hospital. Esencan Hospital, however, provided a false epicrisis report that made the baby appear healthy.

At the hospital we went to, it was revealed that the baby had been left hungry. 21 days later, they handed me my child's body. I couldn't even hug or kiss them once while they were alive.

I WAS TREATED LIKE A MADWOMAN

After laying my child to rest, I began a legal battle. First, a decision of non-prosecution was issued. I appealed, a case was opened, but an acquittal was granted. I also applied to the International Criminal Court. I was treated like a madwoman,” she said.
