Non-prosecution decision for 4 suspects in Narin Güran murder case: Ruled that there is insufficient evidence

The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that a decision of non-prosecution has been issued for 4 children who were included as suspects in the investigation into the murder of Narin Güran. The prosecutor's office stated that the investigation into the defendants was terminated on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence in the file.

Narin Güran went missing on August 21, 2024, in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district. In the investigation into the death of Güran, whose lifeless body was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8, 2024, a decision of non-prosecution was issued for 16-year-old R.A. regarding the charges of 'intentional killing of a child' and 'destruction of evidence of a crime'.

In the same investigation, it was ruled that there would be no prosecution for 16-year-old M.G. on the grounds that the elements of the crime of 'destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime' were not met. A similar decision was taken for G.G. and A.Ç.D. as sufficient evidence could not be found for the crime of 'aiding and abetting a criminal'.

The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office underlined that, in accordance with Article 172/2 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a new investigation could be conducted if new evidence is obtained. The decision stated, ''It has been understood that the nature of the crime has transformed and the actions as a whole constitute the act of 'aiding and abetting a criminal'.''
