Notable development after trustee appointment: TELE1's YouTube channel restored
Following the appointment of a trustee, TELE1's YouTube channel, which has approximately 1.4 million subscribers and was previously shut down, has resumed broadcasting.
TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and his advisor Necati Özkan had been arrested on charges of 'espionage.' Following the arrests, Yeni Şafak columnist İbrahim Paşalı was appointed as a trustee to the channel.
Immediately after the trustee appointment, TELE1's YouTube channel, which has approximately 1.4 million subscribers, was shut down, a situation that drew significant backlash from both viewers and journalists.
Journalists Bahadır Özgür and Timur Soykan had stated that with the closure of the channel, there was an attempt to "destroy the archive and memory" as well.
In an announcement made today, it was reported that TELE1's YouTube account has been restored and is accessible again.
