Notification to EU alarm system for products originating from Turkey
Italy has notified the EU system that chemical migration limits have been exceeded in plastic plates originating from Turkey that come into contact with food.
Italy has submitted a notification to the European Union's food and feed alarm system regarding plastic plate products originating from Turkey that come into contact with food. The warning was recorded on August 27, 2026, under reference number 2026.7582.
During inspections conducted at border control, it was determined that the "overall migration" limits in the plastic plates were above legal thresholds. Overall migration refers to the total amount of substances that can migrate from materials in contact with food into the food itself.
In the notification from Italian authorities, the situation was evaluated under the "information for attention" category. It was stated that the aforementioned limit exceedance could pose a potential risk to food safety.
In the assessment, the risk level was classified as "potentially serious." However, it was reported that there have been no individuals affected or health issues reported as a result of the incident so far.
