NSC meets today: What topics are on the table?

The National Security Council (NSC) will meet today at the Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. One of the main agenda items of the meeting is expected to be the latest status of the second opening process, which the government calls a "Terror-Free Turkey."

It is stated that in addition to the political and legal steps regarding the process, the assessments of security institutions will also be discussed by the Council. Following the publication of the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, known in the public eye as the "framework law," in the Official Gazette on August 18, the NSC is expected to discuss this topic comprehensively.

Foreign policy and regional security issues will also be on the table at the meeting. It is anticipated that the latest developments in the Ukraine-Russia war, navigation safety in the Black Sea, and assessments regarding the ongoing negotiation process between the US and Iran will be brought to the Council's agenda.

Following the NSC meeting, a statement is expected to be released to inform the public about the issues discussed and the advisory decisions taken by the Council.
