'Nuclear' cooperation between South Korea and Turkey

On the occasion of the visit of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to Turkey at the invitation of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, several important cooperation agreements, including in the field of energy, were signed between Turkey and South Korea.

In this context, a "Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Energy Cooperation" was signed between TÜNAŞ and the South Korean company KEPCO. The memorandum, signed in the presence of President Erdoğan and South Korean President Myung, was signed by TÜNAŞ CEO Necati Yamaç and KEPCO CEO Dong-Cheol Kim.

The memorandum aims for Turkey and South Korea to share technical data, information, experience, and know-how, and to conduct joint studies.

JOINT WORK IN THE NUCLEAR FIELD

Sharing information about the agreement on his social media accounts, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated, "We participated in the inter-delegation meeting chaired by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and South Korean President Mr. Lee Jae Myung. Following the meeting, a 'Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Energy Cooperation' was signed between TÜNAŞ and KEPCO in the presence of our leaders.

With this agreement, we aim to carry out joint work in many areas, from the development of nuclear power plant projects to the sharing of technology and know-how, and from the evaluation of sites to project financing and the development of human resources.

I wish this agreement, which will crown our deep-rooted friendship with a strategic partnership in nuclear energy, to be beneficial for our countries."
