Number of cases in prison poisoning suspicion rises to 266
The number of inmates who fell ill and are suspected of being poisoned after eating a meal at the open and closed penal institutions in the Ferizli district of Sakarya has risen to 266.
The incident occurred at the open penal institution located within the Sakarya Penal Institutions Campus in the Ferizli district. According to the information obtained, some inmates began experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and weakness following dinner.
141 inmates, believed to have been affected by the food they consumed, were taken under treatment at various hospitals in the city. While 127 inmates have completed their treatment and been discharged, it was learned that the 14 remaining are in good health and their blood tests are ongoing.
Similar complaints were observed in 73 inmates at the No. 1 Closed Penal Institution and 52 inmates at the No. 2 Closed Penal Institution, both located on the same campus. It was learned that this entire group was treated on an outpatient basis and discharged. In this context, while the number of inmates referred to hospitals with suspected poisoning has risen to 266, it was learned that health screenings are continuing at a field hospital established within the campus.
