Number of detainees rises in operations against ISIS in Yalova
The number of detainees has risen to 63 following the ISIS operations in Yalova, where 3 police officers were martyred in a clash. Processing of the detained suspects continues.
During a counter-terrorism operation conducted on December 29, 2025, on Seher Street in the İsmet Paşa neighborhood of Yalova, a clash broke out in which police officers İlker Pehlivan (47), Turgut Külünk (50), and Yasin Koçyiğit (49) lost their lives, while eight police officers and one night watchman were injured. Five women and six children who were in the house where the incident took place were rescued alive. Six ISIS members were killed when security forces returned fire.
Following this bloody incident, security units launched operations that spread throughout the city. In the initial raids, 115 people were detained, and 58 were arrested by the court.
In the latest wave of security operations continuing across the city, 25 more suspects were apprehended. Of the individuals referred to the prosecutor's office as part of the investigation, 5 were arrested, while 16 were released under judicial control conditions. 4 suspects in custody were released after their statements were taken by the prosecutor's office.
With the latest arrests, the number of people in prison due to charges related to ISIS in Yalova has reached 63. It is stated that the police's investigations and operations across the city are continuing without interruption.
