Number of detentions rises in investigation into deaths of 2 people by electric shock in İzmir

The number of people detained in connection with the deaths of 2 individuals who were electrocuted while trying to take shelter from heavy rain in the Konak district of İzmir has risen to 20.

Teams from the Homicide Bureau of the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch have detained 20 people as part of their efforts to apprehend the 29 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued.

It was stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, who have been determined to be outside the province.

INCIDENT AND INVESTIGATION

On July 12, in the Konak district, Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay lost their lives after stepping into a puddle during a downpour and being electrocuted. The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued detention warrants for 29 suspects as part of the investigation.

It was previously reported that those detained included B.K., Head of the İZSU Sewerage Department, A.S., Gdz Elektrik Aegean Regional Manager and Operations Official, and K.A.F., an operations manager.
