Number of injured in Beylikdüzü metrobus accident rises to 40
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated regarding the metrobus accident in Beylikdüzü, "Unfortunately, we have a total of 40 injured fellow citizens. One of our injured has passed away. Two people are in critical condition, and the others are continuing to receive treatment. Some have begun to be discharged."
Gül conducted an inspection at the scene of the accident, where one metrobus rear-ended another that was picking up passengers at the Haramidere Sanayi station in the direction of Beylikdüzü.
After receiving information about the accident from IETT General Manager İrfan Demet and other officials, Gül made a statement to journalists.
Noting that he and Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız visited the injured in the hospitals after learning of the accident, Gül said, "Unfortunately, we have a total of 40 injured fellow citizens. One of our injured has passed away. Two people are in critical condition, and the others are continuing to receive treatment. Some have begun to be discharged. Since there has been a death and injuries, the judicial process begins automatically in such cases. Likewise, the institutions' own internal administrative processes begin, and other administrative processes also commence automatically."
Conveying his "get well soon" wishes, Gül said, "The cause of the accident will be determined after a technical investigation. What you see, and what we see, is that one of the metrobuses was letting passengers off while the other metrobus did not stop and hit it from behind.
As a result of the impact, our passengers who were getting off the front metrobus were thrown in various directions. The reason for the failure to stop will be revealed as a result of both judicial and administrative investigations."
