According to allegations, a powerful drug used to sedate patients before surgery had been injected into the arm of young nurse Selen Bilgin. While the family claims that the doctor injected this drug, the detained doctor denied the allegations.

The Public Prosecutor conducting the investigation referred Fatih A. to the court on charges of "intentional killing of a woman with probable intent." The court issued a judicial control decision for Fatih A., who had been referred with a request for arrest, and released him.

Claiming that Selen called him on the phone while he was in intensive care, doctor Fatih A. stated that he took the serum containing the pain reliever to the room and injected it into her arm.

Explaining that he then went back down to intensive care, doctor Fatih A. said that there was another phone conversation with Selen, and that he even told her, "I gave you the pain reliever medication. I need to open a record."

"I FOUND HER MOTIONLESS"

Stating that Selen told him she had been sleepless for 2-3 days, doctor Fatih A. claimed that they fell asleep; when he woke up, he saw Selen motionless.

Saying that he did not inject any drug other than the pain reliever into Selen's arm, doctor Fatih A. alleged that Selen was also an intensive care nurse and knew well how to obtain these drugs.

SYRINGE FOUND

During the search, the syringe, which was stated to be missing, was found in the room's drawer. The syringe was seized for examination.

FORENSIC MEDICINE REPORT WILL SOLVE THE INCIDENT

The ampoule of the drug injected into the arm of the late Selen Bilgin was found in doctor Fatih A.'s pocket. It was also stated that fingerprint analysis would be performed on the found syringe.

Whether Selen Bilgin died due to the pain reliever taken or due to the anesthesia drug used before surgeries will be revealed in the autopsy report to be prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institute.

The Selen Bilgin incident recalled the death of anesthesia technician Ayşe Karaman, which occurred 5 years ago in Ankara. Karaman was found dead on July 29, 2019, at the home of her boyfriend, Specialist Dr. Özgür T. Ayşe Karaman had also taken the drug that was injected into the arm of the late Selen Bilgin.

A lawsuit was filed against doctor Özgür T., who was stated to be Ayşe Karaman's boyfriend, on charges of 'premeditated murder.' In the trial, doctor Özgür T. was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison for 'causing death by conscious negligence.'
