Objection to detention filed: New development regarding Kerimcan Durmaz
The request for an 'objection to detention' filed by the lawyer of social media influencer Kerimcan Durmaz, who was arrested on allegations of encouraging people by advertising illegal betting, has been rejected.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into social media influencer Kerimcan Durmaz on the grounds that he carried out activities encouraging illegal betting and shared advertising content in an irregular manner.
In this context, Durmaz was taken into custody on January 7 and was referred to the courthouse the following day, where he was arrested by the Istanbul Criminal Court of Peace.
The petition submitted by his lawyer, Müge Doğan, to the Istanbul 10th Criminal Court of Peace to object to her client's detention was rejected by the duty court. The court ruled for the continuation of Durmaz's detention.
