The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has included Mabel Matiz in an investigation on charges of "obscenity" following an application by the Ministry of Family and Social Services regarding the song titled "Perperişan."
The famous artist provided his statement today within the scope of the ongoing investigation.
ACCESS BAN ON THE SONG
The Ministry of Family and Social Services had requested an access ban for the work in question. In line with the request, an access ban decision for the song was implemented on September 18.
The justification for the ban emphasized that the song could harm the family structure, negatively affect the mental development of children and young people, disrupt public order, and cause public outrage.
MABEL MATİZ'S STATEMENT
Mabel Matiz had made a statement on his social media account regarding the developments.
In his post, the artist stated, "My songs have always been inspired by many areas of life and have described life itself. In a product that has emerged with my writing style, everyone, every listener, can find personal meanings that belong to them and relate to them. This is the attractive and beautiful side of art and literature anyway."
In his statement, he also said, "This song tells a love story through metaphors, emulating the tradition of folk literature."
