Two people who displayed a poster of Abdullah Öcalan at the Newroz celebrations in Istanbul have been arrested, while 3 others were released under judicial control.
The following statement was issued by the Istanbul Police Department regarding the operations conducted by the Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism branches:
"Three individuals who climbed onto a tower in the rally area and displayed a poster of PKK/KCK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan during the Newroz program held at the Istanbul Yenikapı Rally Area on March 17, and 2 individuals identified as having displayed a poster of PKK/KCK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan on the social media site Twitter, were apprehended and taken into custody. On March 18, the 3 individuals were released by judicial authorities under judicial control, while the 2 individuals were arrested and sent to prison."
