OGM acquired 5 out of 6 UAVs from Selçuk Bayraktar: The amount paid has been revealed

The General Directorate of Forestry (OGM), which has been criticized for being inadequate in responding to forest fires, has added 6 new UAVs to its inventory.

It has been revealed that 5 of these UAVs were acquired from Selçuk Bayraktar, the son-in-law of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to the report by Mustafa Bildircin from Birgün; the OGM, which does not have enough aircraft in its inventory, paid a total of 4 billion 79 million 769 thousand TL in rent for aircraft in 2023 alone. According to OGM data, 94 firefighting helicopters, 23 airplanes, eight unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), one management aircraft, and six management helicopters were used during the 2023 fire season.

323 MILLION 614 THOUSAND TL PAID FOR UAVS

The data shared by the OGM under the heading "Combating Forest Fires" revealed the commercial relationship between the directorate and Erdoğan's son-in-law, Selçuk Bayraktar. According to the information obtained, the OGM, which already had two UAVs in its inventory, added six rented UAVs to its fleet in 2023.

Five of the six rented unmanned aerial vehicles were leased from the company named Baykar, which belongs to Selçuk Bayraktar. The directorate stated that one UAV was leased from TUSAŞ. It was reported that a total of 323 million 614 thousand 538 TL was paid for the rental of the six UAVs, five of which were provided by Baykar. On the other hand, the OGM announced that 131 million 111 thousand 382 TL was paid for two aircraft rented from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
